What did you use to clean the calipers before painting?

thanks guys, I used brake cleaner to clean the brakes and then a wire brush along with some scotch brite to clean the rest up. As for the paint, i left it in the car, but its the one JC Whitney sells, i bought it at their warehouse for like 6 bucks. I'll let u guys know tomorrow what type it is.

looks good. Will look even better with rims with bigger openings so you can see the red shining through more.

Red's not a ricer color for brake calipers. Red is a very common color, and looks great on most color Maximas.

Let me guess, your calipers are red?

Mine are red. Thought about black but figured it wouldn't show at all (just wouldn't rust). Plus my rims have a red writing in the center cap so I figured it'd work for me.

yeah, it would be nice to have a little larger rims. For now, this will have to do.

i have a dark green maxima...seems darker than most other green maxes...and i was wondering what color i should make the calipers...i didnt post pics of my 18s yet, but they are very skinny 5 spokes so calipers would look great...i love blue, but that wont look too nice in the day...a lot of people think my car is black anyway, but with the right sunlight the green is obvious... i was thinking about doing the calipers the same dark green as the car...what do u guys think?

Green would be good, but it would have to be just the right shade to look right and I haven't seen caliper paint the color of the dark green maxes I've seen. I don't know how you would do that with spray paint...

Depends on what kind of look you're going for, do you have pics of your wheels? Red might actually be OK, and give you a 'sport' look like the new Lancers with the factory Brembos...

my thoughts...

I think i have the same green max you have actually. i was debating myself as well and yellow popped into my mind. Yellow and green combo would look nice , but im probably going to end up painting them red b/c of my red/clear taillights....

i have the red/clear tailights too, it goes best on our color. if i cant find any paint dark enough ill probably do red myself too....my friend actually with the same color is thinking yellow, but he's jamaican so thats his reasoning (you know, green yellow and black)

The jamaican flag stuff is hot. The red is cool too but I like the sound of the yellow and green.
