To start Be prepared to spend a lot of time removing remaing glue and chances are it may leave the surface underneath looking a bit dull, especially by the radio where the underlying plastic is black. I don't suggest removing the kit for 2 reasons. The first being it will look better then the factory black center dash. The second being, as I mentioned, it may leave a dull look. If you plan on applying a new dash kit after removal to better suit your tastes you may have something going for you.
Also, just an FYI my car came with an "old man" dash kit in wood as well. I almost didn't buy the car because I hated it so much. Over time I grew to love it and won't be without it. I don't know how long you have had your car, but give the kit a month and a half and see how you feel then. Also find some pics of the original nissan dash. It look like trash, in my opinion.
