I haven't got any CEL's, but my 96 SE 5spd has 143,500 miles and Was wondering if the KS has to be totally shot for the CEL to light up. I was wondering how to physically check the knock sensor just for peace of mind. THANKS!!

 

The KS will never trip the CEL, no matter how shot it is.

 

ok, but how do you check the KS and what to look for.

 

Then why is it when I check my CEL it gives me the code 0304 (KS), does that mean the KS is not faulty but something else is? Let me know cuz I've been having this problem for a while

 

its not gonna trip the CEL but if you check the ECU, the code will show up
