Why dont I have a CEL? - 97 using 95 ecu
I just got my 5sp conversion done on my 97 gxe "auto" and I swapped in a ECU off a 95 se 5speed. Question - why dont I have a CEL? only thing I get is my O/D light flashing at start up and thats it. everything seems to be running fine so Im not complaining but just wondering why no CEL? I drove the car all night too so I gave it time to light up but it didnt.
Your car has more sensors than the 95 ECU needs. It's getting every piece of info it looks for.
If you put a 97 ECU into a 95, the wiring and sensors from the car would not have all the sensors that the 97 ECU looks for.
I think....

If you want to get rid of the Flashing O/D at start up. You need to disconnect the Transmission ECU Harness. The Tranny ECU is located behind the ash-tray console.
