7995 for a 97 se?

I just found out my max is going to be totalled and they tell me i'm going to get 7995 for it. Its a 97 Black Se, Black Leather, Moonroof, dual airbags, dual power seats, basically everything except the bose system. I thought i woudl get more for this car. I run the KBB value on it and its tells me 9370. Thats a bit of a difference.

i guess u smashed it. U should get more than that for it. It doesn't have to be totalled if you dont want it to. I am assuming the insurance company wants to do that. That is cuz it is cheaper for them. Legally they are required to restore it to preaccident condition. It is really your choice> You could have a shop write up a really large estimate and then get you check and bring it to someone else to fix for a cheap price and pocket a couple of grand.
