Plat. plug installation costs more?

I've checked with two different dealers in my area regarding installing new platinum spark plugs. They both have specials for tune-ups involving regular plugs. When I mention that I already have the plugs and don't need to pay the extra surcharge they want for buying the plugs from them, both dealers claimed that it costs more ($85 and $120) to install platinum plugs that regular plugs as there is more labor involved.

I was under the impression that the labor involved in changing the plugs was the same. Am I mistaken?

They are lying to you.

Install the plugs yourself. It's a 15 minute job.

WTF?!??!?!?!?!? Punch them in the face with the plugs then leave... You could change them in 15minutes like said above.. and Platinum plugs dont even have to be gapped... Just get a torque rench and get at it... or following sprints instructions.

They come "pre-gapped", but you should check the gap anyway. They are alomost never correct and the 6 plugs will all have 6 different readings.

I always heard not to touch the gap because you can scrape off the platinum coating Otherwise it seems that they wouldn't sell several plugs with the only difference being the gap.
