Timing Chain about to explode!!!
Timing Chain about to explode!!!
Not literally, but you can really hear my timing chain smack against the tensioners when warming up the car, the clacking noise is realy noticeable, especially if I blip the throttle when the engine comes to an idle your hear a few ::clacks::. After it warms up though the noise is gone. Im very worried that my baby is gonna stall on me soon. How long can my car live like this as im too broke to get this fixed and how many people are experiencing a very noticeable symptom as I have described. Can my car go to 200k (100k last week ;-0) with this problem or will the tensioner give and my engine seize. Please post any comments.
I just did some work to mine along with some other "mods". I heard the same noise my advise to you DONT DRIVE IT cause you could blow everything if your chain breaks or if it goes in reverse you'll blow your tranny, engine, rods, cams dont chance it get it fixed its minor now. It costed me 1,200 to get mine done. I thought I would get it done being that I have alot more hp
if it is smacking, i suggest u get fixed asap before it skips a tooth. the cost will vary from 700-2000, parts are not alot, but labor is.
before i get my tensioner fixed one dealer quoted me 550 labor to replace all3 chains and tensioners
parts u can get from www.newnissanparts.com http://www.rpmrons.com/nissantiming.html
are u sure the tensioners arn;t bad, if htey are go here http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....t=timing+chain

550 FOR LABOR, i got quoted from 8 dealers in my area 550-3500 dollars..
if u can find a dealer to do labor for less then 600 and u can buy the parts, i would get it done ASAP. i wouldn't pay more then 900 to replace only hte chains and tensioners
