I just TRIED to do the blue led in the windowswitch, led works, but neither windows or locks do. At first, I may have got the led in backwars b/c i didn't see any positive/negative markings on the circuitboard. I tried it after that and the led didn't work. i resoldered it in the opposite way and it lit up when i hit the lights. The only thing is neither my power locks, windows, or keyless entry work on that door. Do you know what I can try BEFORE i get a new switch or does anybody happen to have one for sale for a 96. 96 because I heard polarity on 95 was different and 97+ were different in many ways than the 96.THX!!

 

Oh, and some instructions said to use the 5v led and some said 3v. I used the 5v. did i possibly really screw something up?

 

How bout your courtesy light, is that out? I assume you checked your fuses but I'm not sure the LED would light up if the switch itself is damaged. Is the LED on a separate circuit board in a 96?
As for buying a new switch, I have used a master window switch out of a 96 with no problems and I have a 97.

Well, as an update, it started working...kind of. It sat for a while and the next time i got in the car, everything worked except for when locking the passenger side front door when using the power lock toggle switch and driver side lock. It locked fine with keyless entry though, which is one thing I was worried about. Window worked fine too. Then, during my drive, I stopped at a store. I tried to roll up my window and it wouldn't work. Locks wouldn't work either. Got back home, took it out, put it back in after resetting the ecu hoping it might do something. it worked. Now it doesn't again. the courtesy light is off too.

 

ANYONE KNOW WHAT MIGHT BE WRONG?...ANYONE???

 

With it being intermittent, sounds like a bad ground or connection jiggling around. I know on mine, the big connector that goes in the bottom is very tight when trying to seat it and hearing the click. And if it isn't fully plugged in (clicking together), it doesn't work right. I would doublecheck that connector first. Also, if you have a voltmeter, check the connector for power with it unplugged. That could give you a clue as to whether it is the switch or not. Other people may have a better idea. Good luck.

it is all fully plugged in. now it hasn't worked for about a day and a half. I bought one from a 95 for $20 on ebay, so it looks like i'm all set now.
