Brake Noise and Vibration

When I am traveling on the freeway any speed above 60 and apply the brakes, the car starts to vibrate, especially downhill, any ideas what that could be?

Also my brakes have been squeaking ever since they were done last year, is that the same problem or a different one?

Have your rotors resurfaced and your vibrations will stop.

The squeak is related to anti squeal hardware or the lack of. It also could be a fitment issue as well. Loose pads, worn out pad guide hardware could all lead to brake squeal. Have them looked at when you have your rotors resurfaced.

you can put aftermarket slotted or cross drilled rotors if you want for better performance.

Resurfacing will get rid of the vibration but it will come back pretty quickly because the rotor will be thinner and less able to dissipate heat.

Replacement rotors are available at most auto parts stores (I bought some at Pep Boys previously with good results) for about $120pr. I wouldn't spent $120 to resurface anything except for my driveway.

I recently upgraded my brakes with Stillen slotted rotors, Raybestos QS pads, stainless lines, and Valvoline DOT4 fluid. What a diffence! After breaking them in they seem to have much better initial bite and much less fade. They do make sort of a whirring sound/feeling under harder braking but I expected that.

Ft rotors, $175 pr.
Rr rotors, $185 pr.
All pads, $110
SS lines, $155 set

it s quite easy to take them off yourself. You could do an axle at the time.Look for machine shops (Napa stores may have it next t them)and they should cut the rotors for $ 10-15 each. If the rotor is worn too much best thing is to replace them. I would install new pads with fresh machined rotors.

i would say 10 to 15 also to turn the rotors. i just got the "brembo" slotted rotors and "satisfied" ceramic pads for 169 plus 38 plus shipping. brakes work wonderful. but i can't figure out what the noise is. it was there before i ordered the hard ware though.

cheers
