close call with accident -- may need some repairs
I was heading up a road in the right lane at around 45 mph a few days ago when a SUV made a right out of a parking lot a fairly close (but not dangerously) to me and headed to the lane to the left of me... i started to brake as the intersection was coming up and i had the green arrow to make a right.. when the SUV decides to merge in to my lane.. and at around 40mph you have an idea of how close i am to this car.. i immediately threw down on the brake pedal as the road curves to the left, right before the intersection. i start to skid off to the right, avoid hitting the SUV but only to hit the curb at around 20-30 mph.
after getting heated i pull into a parking lot to asses the possible damage to my car..
no body damage, thank god. i take a look at the tire and it looks to be a tad bit off balance with the rim, as if the very bottom of the sidewall is being pulled up and away from the tip of the rim.
i think not much about it.. and after kicking the tire i drive off.. but immediately noticed that the car pulls off to the right at a more alarming rate than before. as i take the car to 40 mph, i can feel a slight blipping in the steering wheel.. and if i take the car to 50-60 mph, the steering wheel starts to stutter left and right, more violently as the speed increases. i can feel the car shaking slightly under my feet.
what kind of damage am i looking at? Bent rim, broken suspension, axel, in need of alignment?
how much would it cost to do a replacement and or repair of the damage inflicted on my car? Thanks for any replies!
