KS RE-LOCATED! =D
so far I didn t have to replace the KS,and maybe if I would have to do it,I would probably try to relocate it. i have a Cali car,so there is an extra device in there ... I would imagine that they installed the KS where is to be able to listen to all the cylinders...I was thinking when the time comes to install it closer to the tranny where the acces is better.
However,on the firewall is completly out of job. I never heard knock in the maxima engine...but I would imagine that is there for our good.

Well, I saw both but.......hehe
I was reading a SCC mag with the F&F cars on the cover. In there was an article about their project Sentra(35 more wheel hp with bolt ons) In that article they mention that this SER was the most inconsistent car in regards to dyno runs. They figured out it was an overly sensitive KS. So what they did is remove it, wrap it with a towel and mount it on the firewall or something. They had to add a ground wire but no biggie. They said even with 91 octane, it ran fine thoughout their dyno runs and they never heard any knock(there is knock that you can't hear but I digress). In conclusion, I think you are okay with your relocation. Especially with the 94 octane you run. Just thought you would want to know what I found. (other than some stinky doo-doos)

I used a 12mm socket and a regular Craftman ratchet 3/8" drive. After putting the socket on the KS bolt, I position the ratchet handle at the middle of the block. You will see a round hole on the block just under the handle. The hole's openning is about the size of the little finger and it is about 1/2" deep. I put in a flat blade screw driver and used it as a lever to push against the ratchet handle. As the handle moves, I put in a second screw driver to take up the slack. (Note: This would be a good location for the KS if you can thread the hole). After the bolt is loosen up, you can use a 12mm flex head and a long extension bar (14"
to get it out.
