Changing Knock Sensor

Changing Knock Sensor

Do you only need to change your knock sensor if you get an ecu code for it or can you check it with a voltmeter and see if it is going bad. My car is a 97 se with 95,000 miles. Just wondering because my car is running normal, but i could always use a little more power.

check the resistance with an ohm meter

how many ohms should it read 555? What if it is lower is it still ok or not?
