nissan 6sp conversion

I currently have a 97 Max w/5sp and a quaife lsd. My question is will the newer 6spd bolt into my car and will the quaife also work in the 6 spd tranny. also is there much of final drive difference between the 5 and 6 spd I'm looking to have more gear for top speed runs I'm guessing at about 155 with the 5 spd I'm gonna run out of gear and be hitting redline. Also does anyone know what gear you would swap for 5th gear to give a higher top speed/ lower rpm.

is the tranny from a 00-01 model?...cause they had the same 3.0 block...if it is from the 02-03, you can guarantee it is not going to be compatible.

People say that the guy from maximumtuning or something did it, no pics and no proof make me think otherwise...

Jeff (maximus75, owner of Maximum Tuning) has an '03 6-speed in his 97 SE. I've seen it in person. I think he needed custom axles made up, and some other stuff, not positive though.

well make it compatible, If it can be done with civics, then why not Maximas, I know a guy who has an old 4spd manual civc grabed a tranny from the B16(5spd) and slapped it on, No problems and his car is going good.

I think Honda parts tend to swap quite a bit easier than nissan, for the most part. ie. CRV AWD in a civic.

1. Please don't compare maximas to civics.
2. hondas are like legos. You can add more and more as much as you like, the only thing that stops you is cash. I don't think the term "Bolt-on" existed before hondas were around.
3. A 6-speed conversion is possible, but not worth it because a) the amount of cash it would take to make everything work, and b) In order to get the most out of the 6th gear, you would need a VQ35DE. So if you want a 6 speed, figure out a way to do a 3.5 engine swap........
4. Please don't compare maximas to civics.
