HIDs keep burning my wire harnesses

Every 3 months I've been changing my wire harnesses for the past year and a half because they can't handle the extra heat the HID replacements dish out.

Anyone know where I can get a wire harness that will hold the HIDs without melting like this plastic piece of garbage that Nissan hooked the Max's up with?

just regular ones that you get at any performance shop.... 1004s? I've tried different brands and they've all yielded the same result. When I went to Nissan the mechanic said to me "you got the HIDs, eh?" and explained that they burn up the plastic harnesses that nissan put in the Max's. Do you know of anything I can do besides replacing the harnesses?

i think you got halogen bulbs that are 75w or more, not hids.

hids use a balast to power the bulb.

I just bought HIDs and they came in the mail (Phillips 8000k K2) problem is the left side of my connector is burnt and messed up and won't work with the HID. How much would cost to repair this? Do I need a whole wire harness or just the connector cause it still sorta works with the normal cool blue bulbs, only when you move it around tho but I'm not about to that when the HIDs are hooked up to it. Thanks in advance.

I'm having that same problem... when you get sick of it there are only two ways to repair it..
1. take the wire harness out and put in wire slides over the ground wire part of the harness.. that's the one that always burns out on me... then it should last another month...
after that..
2. replace the harness

^ You dont have actual HIDs, just really high wattage halogen bulbs. HIDs actually use 35watts or so, basically.. they won't burn out the wire harness. A conversion kit will cost you like 300-600$

I'm guessing you have bulbs that look like HID. The reason they look like it is because of the extra wattage the bulbs require. However your stock harnesses cannot handle the extra wattage. The previous owner of my Max did this and melted the harnesses. I got a pair of 9004 harnesses from a local auto parts store for $5 bucks each and put them on and I havent had a problem. There are upgrades for stronger harnesses that handle more wattage but your looking at about $50 bucks last time I checked. My advice, unless you really like those bulbs, get rid of them and you'll be getting rid of the headache. You'll be burning harnesses all the time.

Take those crappy blue coated high wattage rice bulbs out and use the correct type & wattage bulb in your headlights.

It's pretty simple, really.
