But I told them to use it, and I saw them using it....so it should be good. It's a metal gasket in there, so taking the cover off and having a look won't damage the gasket.

Yep....I did on all of them as I recall. I've been telling people to check anyway just in case, because I didn't assemble them all. My friends helped me out with the assembly.
