Tint! 20% dark enough?

Alright... I am sick of the 35% tint on my ride and need to get it darker. I saw some guy in a white truck yesterday w/ 20% that looked wicked dark. I think that's what I'm going to go with.

I don't want it to be 5% since I am from NJ and that's illegal to have on the front windows (well anything's illegal on the fronts in NJ but the 5% will get you pulled over w/ a ticket) not to mention that it takes all the fun out of checkin the ladies out when you drive by... I'm thinking 20% will be just right.. anyone have any suggestions before I go spend 75 to get the 35% removed and another 200 to redo the tint?

Hi there 20% is ideal not too dark and not too light here in Massachusetts 20% will get you a $400.00 ticket right on the spot as I found out when a cop pull me over besides the exhaust and the blue parking light and so on and so on check with your inspection station whats the legal limit here would not pass inspection eather .....good luck ...

Yeah I'm not gonna worry about passing inspection. I go to school in NC so I'll be out of the state anyway... no tickets! I'm a little worried w/ how you said "not too dark"... however I really enjoyed the "not too light"... I am so ****ed how light 35% is. I really hope this 20 is what I want.. I have a feeling that 15 may be too dark. Is that the consenus?

Personally, I have 30 on the front and 20 on the back. I think both are too light and plan to get 10% or less. Probabably will end up going with 5% cause my eyebrow is 5 and I love it. Do whatever you think will look good to you tho.

i have 20 all around. Ppl can still see a good shadow of you during the day, but can barely see you at night. also, when it rains, 20 percent tint looks like it has become 5 percent tint. go w/20

I don't get it. Why do you have to spend 75 to get it removed? Can't you get it off with a razor? Sorry, I only have experience with the rolls of tint you find at Advanced Auto and what-not. Do shops use a different kind of tint?

They use some chemicals that make it wicked hard to remove. The guy spent two and a half hours removing the tint today in the 95 degree weather. I decided to go with a 15% Tint at the last minute and I couldn't be more satisfied. I'll get some pics up and running ASAP.

Today was a huge day... pulled the pinstripe, got rid of the burger, and re-tinted. Tomorrow I'm going to use goo gone on the glue from the burger and the pinstripes, get a few dents taken out, install the red/clear's that I painted while my car was in the tint shop and then hopefully be done with the outside of my car until i get a body kit.

I almost forgot how fun it is to play with the Maxima.. it's been too long.

Don't forget the interior color. If you have tan it will look like mine. If you have black it will be darker. I could stand to go a little darker. Maybe 10-15%.

Mine is 13% and it looks MAD dark even during the day from the outside... My limit would be ~10%... At night 13% isn't dark at all...

I'm in the same boat as you. I have a dark interior so i thought a 35% tint would be just fine. Turns out after a few years of driving i really wish i could have gone with %20, just watch out for the 5-0.

I had 5% in the rear and 35% in the front. Worked perfect for me. In Michigan, never found myself being pulled over for having window tint.

Hey is it difficult to remove the pinstripe? Does your tint looks badass, I also have a black maxima- 96 but I wouldn't last 10 minutes without a ticket with 5% in my area. I think the limit is like 30 in front and up to 5% in the back but I don't really want two tones. Im gonna try to find a place that will do 20% front and back.
