Improved gas mileage

Ok so I was getting around 270 to around 320 highway miles per tank in my 97 maxima. I tired everything to improve the gas mileage. I replaced the fuel filter, air filter, cleaned the trottle body, pour in some Techron to clean out the fuel system. Nothing no improvements at all.

Then last week i drove my car about 260 mile each way for the weekend. Now I am getting 415 miles per tank all of a sudden without any other changes.

Any theories on what it can be? (not that i am complaining)

Damn, I don't know what that could be, but there was definitely something wrong before. The gas light in my 95 comes on at ~460 miles highway, and I've never run it down to the light in the city but I average like 360-70. It'll be interesting to see what people might think is up with your car.

When you put in a fuel system cleaner, it starts breaking down the stuff. That's why they tell you not to refill tank until it's near empty. After some of the stuff is broken down, the next few tanks will push the stuff out and clear the way of the fuel flow. That's why they say only put in a bottle every 3000 miles

Long highway trips, steady speeds, proper tire pressure & no A/C running perhaps(?) will get you an accurate indication of the cars actual MPG. Sounds like it's running pretty good!

A light foot on the gas pedal really helps out. Plus, instead of doing 80mph, I go around 70mph... that has really improved my mileage.

the other thing i was going to say is that when i first changed my fuel filter, i got worse gas mileage, but it took 2-3 tanks to see an improvement. Also, driving 90 to work everyday/no ac gives me about 350 miles to the tank. Driving 65 last week gave me 410.

Also, pay the extra 5 cents and get ultra 94. You'll see better mileage.

Something else that's weird: As soon as i changed my battery, i got better mileage.......
