Painting 96 Tails

i just recently got a 96 maxima se, i know that for the 97+ 4th gens they make red/clears, but i havent seen any options for the 95-96 crowd? i am wondering if anyone has pics of their maxima with the amber lens painted red? also, what color will be emmited when the blinker is engaged? ANY help is greatly appreciated in advance.

-Tyler

i just went from a 14.5 second 94 Accord to my 96 Maxima, and i must say that so far, i am pleasently impressed

i'll snap some pics of my white 95 tomorrow for you. just did this two weeks ago. went from altezzas and it's a big improvement. the blinker comes out red which is better imo. what'd you have done to your accord to make it that fast?

back to the topic, when you turn on the turn signal, the light is emitted red, or orangish red? (when stock 96 tail turn signal lense is painted red)

it depends how many coats of paint you put on.. i used one can of testors.com candey apple red,, and my signals still looked a bit orange... so i got one more can,, and sanded them with 400 grit,,then sprayed one more can on to make the coat thick.. another sanding then some clear coat.. after this my signal was as red as my brake light..

if painted with 2-3 coats of testors candy apple translucent red the light emitted will be RED not orange.

thanks for the help, do they carry this translucent paint at any local automotive store? or does it need to be ordered from testors.com?

Testors Transparent Candy Apple Red cans be found at Wal-Mart. Or you can use Krylon Glas paint. Either way you should clear coat them after or they get dull like mine.

I don't know what other people do, but I painted everything red except the reverse light.
