Is there a light for it ?
is there a light for the gas to tell u that u are low on gas?
I havent seen any light go on when i was really really low on gas and the meter was on E. so being a new max owner, i was wondering if there is any light that goes on when ur low on gas. my 94 altima had that feautre, does my 98 se have it too or not?

yeah, mine is just barely past E too. I think some people say you can go up to 40 miles or so after the light comes on tho. I have never been brave enough to try it or run out to see how far it will go. I usually fill up before it hits E, so I never see the light anyways.
i highly suggest you do not try driving once the gas light comes on. a couple years ago i was going to pick up my g/f for lunch. after pulling out of my addition my gas light came on (first time since i owned the car that i have ever seen it come on) i was in a hurry so i figured since it was only a couple miles away i could pick her up first then fill up after we ate. i get about 1/2 mile and the gas pedal is doing nothing. i shift into neutral and coast into a sidestreet just as car is dying. had to call my girl and cancel and call my homeboy to bring me gas. it really sucked.
I live and die by that light.
It depends on how smooth your driving is. When I'm on the highway (flat, straight driving) the light wont come on until I'm on E or below. Around town (hills and curves) it may come on about 1/8" above E.

damn man, you must really live and die by the light. i have had my max for over 5 years and have only had the light come on once. i let the gas go down past e all the time and still light doesn't come on. the 1 time the light did come on, i ran out of gas almost right away.
still, gotta give you props for livin on the edge of the "e" everyday.

I can't believe anybody would let their gas tanks run down that low. It makes no sense at all to run your fuel tank down to it's limits. By 1/4 tank, I'm looking for gas.
I run the light on every week...(i know... injectors can get crap crap in them from the bottom of the tank, etc... but for me, I have never had a problem with that...)
Anyhoo, I have a solid 70km after the light is on constant. I put this to the test every week. Often I drive farther, but it depends on how hard you drive. I find that if I gas up when the light first comes on I can put in 60 litres of gas. I often wait and put in about 65 litres. I've only driven on fumes twice, and I've never been stranded. (in this car) By running a full tank, I can get a really good idea of what my mileage is like. I always drive over 700km. I often push 750, and I'm sure I could get 800km, if I'd slow down a bit.
Bottom line, yes the light comes on. For me, it is slightly below the 'E' bar. It will vary, depending on how level the car is, and cornering, etc.

I use almost exactly 12 gallons every week, so that's all I buy.
