quick cheap horse power? true??

hey guys my friend has a trans am and he told me that he found on the internet that if you take a paper clip and cut it so you have the rounded end only and if you put that into your air filter sensor(the little thing coming out of the black plastic pipe that comes of the air filter). If you put it so that it connects the 2 little metal things inside it that it fools your computer/engine into thinking that its either cold air or isn't getting enough air so it forces more air into the engine. i was just wondering if he is totally lying to me or if it will actually work and if so if there are any draw backs. thanks guys. also if any of yall have done it will yall pm me... o yeah i have a 1996 maxima se. thanks guys
thanks alot

thats like the resistor mod on ebay, it doesnt work at all, thats bs, plus a paper clip is not made completely of metal, most of them are made of a flexible plastic thats underneath some metal plating
