I'm looking to get my '99 Lowered. I've got the stock 16" SE wheels with 215/55r/16 toyo proxes FZ4 tires. How low could I go with no chance of scraping, and does anyone have pics of their lowered cars with stock wheels? preferrably a direct side shot.

there are plenty of people lowered on stock rims. there really is no height that has "no chance" of scraping. i scraped before i even lowered my max on some steep hills, driveways or helacious road bumps.

the only time i scrape is when i try and do something only meant for SUV's . Progress gives you a perfectry even drop if you have 2 12" subs in the back and are a 5spd. i have some more pictures on my homepage.

i have sprint springs with a custom set up in the trunk, I ride on 19s with 235s and still dont scrape on many roads. other then when i go off road... or on something ment for SUVs.

I just lowered my 95 with 16 inch wheels the ones you have on sprints. I ll try to take pics of it today if possible and post them.

Only time ive scraped is going up my buddys near 40 degree inclined driveway...

whats the drop u got there? it sure looks like 2". u got something in trunk or thats the drop the springs gave u??

Scraping is not really an issue as long as you are cautious. The real issue with lowering your car is to not go too low unless you want a pretty harsh ride, and make sure you do not keep stock shocks, because they are basically useless with lowering springs and your will bounce like you have a set of hydraulics on your car. No joke! The advantage you have is your on 16's. Big wheels (18's+) ride pretty poorly compared to the smooth stock ride at least GXE and GLE ride. In the end however it all comes down to how poor of a ride you willing to deal with. I have been lowered 2 inches on drop zone springs for past 4 months on stock GLE shocks and the ride on anything other then a newly paved road is simply unbearable. I have had 18's and stock 15's and my car rides real ****ty either way.

Definately not completely true, at all. Im running on stock struts, and have been for a few months and i dont have a harsh bouncy ride. We have some pretty ****ty roads around here and my car never really bounces unless the road gets pretty severe. It all just depends on how used the stock struts are because mine ride just fine.

Ive ridden in Maxs with lowering springs and aftermarket struts and it didnt ride any better than my car, maybe a bit stiffer. Of course if you get on a really really bouncy road, the aftermarket struts will control the car better than stock struts....

Your car rides fine because you have SE shocks which are much stronger then GXE and GLE shocks.

Well ive heard that GLE/GXE shocks arent much softer than SE shocks, nothing really noticeable anyways....never ridden in a GXE/GLE so i cant testify....
