Tint...Window Removal

I want to retint my windows cuz 35% isnt dark enough for me. I was thinking 15% or 20%. My question is, I would perfer to remove the window and tint it rather than try to reach in the hard areas. Anyone has any suggestions? Whats involved with removing the windows (all except the front)?

You rather remove the door paneling and tinting it then.

I'm broke, can't afford to pay labor. How exactly do professionals do it? Do they just remove the panel and end the tint where you can't see the glass? If so, how do they get the tint all the way to the side of the window?

i tinted my old 88 honda accord from tint i stole from R & S strauss. it could be done but its just such a pain if you dont have a heat gun, sharp blades, good squeegee and patience. search the internet for ways how to do it they'll show you.

The professionals do not remove the door panels. They basically cut and fit the tint on the exterior window. The tint film is preheated and molded for proper fit. The film is then applied from top to bottom. The bottom is tucked underneath the weather strip to avoid rubbing when the windows are open. It costs $160 here in NYC to tint windows.

If you are broke, why are you considering making any changes to your car? the windows are already tinted.

Because tint is fairly cheap w/o labor....thats why I want to do it myself and I'm not about go blow over $150 on tint! Would a hair dryer work instead of a heat gun?

sit that car out in the hot sun for a few hours, then get you a razorblade with handle, and a squirt bottle of soapy water .. when the tint is hot it comes off better .. cut you out a piece and peel it off

get all the left overs off ..!

then get the new tint and get it out as well .. i have never tinted windows but ive seen it done 100 times ..

so get a blow dryer or something and heat up the windows and on the back if you have a rear defrost cut that thing on.

then i see them wet the outside window, toss up the tint on the outside and cut out the pattern. then move around to the inside and put it on.

also good luck on the back window ..i hear its a challenge on the 4th gen to do it perfect.. maybe you dont have a 4th !!

good luck !! tint on a maxima looks awesome !

It's definitely not brain surgery, but having a bad tint job is a "point and laugh" for me when I see it. Good for you if you do it right...Sux4you if you do it wrong. Personally I'd just wait and get it done (especially the back glass...sides might not be that bad) but that's me.

get it done by someone that really knows what theyre doing it will come out so much better. i know that on my car the guy that did it cut out each individual line in the back window for the defroster and even the little tiny nissan letters at the bottom of the window. really above and beyond for $200.
