Help! Odd hestitation problem

Hey guys,

On my way back from a trip to Ottawa, I noticed on the highway that my car would lose power gain power lose it, come back...

Yet I was holding the gas very steady!

I cleaned my TB and my IACV (IACV not cleaned toroughly though)
KS changed... what could be the problem?

Does the IACV affect my power at those speeds? I was at ~3.5k in 5th.

could it be a bad coil pack?
If so, what's the proper resistance of a coil pack?

Thanks guys.

IACV only works at idle (hence the name). Does the idle "surge"? Surging can be a vacuum leak. If you had the TB/IACV off to clean, check the gaskets. Check for other vacuum leaks (hoses, etc...)

Were you using premium fuel?

This would deffinitelly do it. A friend of mine put regular gas in my car without telling me they were going too. My car ran like crap for that whole tank.

I heard though that the IACV will function upto about 4k rpms... i think i read that here somewhere... That's why i fugred in 5th, running at around 3.5k the trottle is open, but theres also air coming in through the IACV. dunno... :-/

oh, and i checked the resistenc of 2 coil packs today... each had different resistence :-/ that can't be good

You could check your ECU for codes.
The resistance on the coil packs may not match up perfectly, but they should all be very close to each other. If I remember right, they should be 32 kohms (maybe a different scale, but 32 something). But this is only if I'm remembering right.
Does your car idle rough? That would be a good sign of a vacuum leak.
On my '97, the IACV ticks at idle. This ticking goes away as soon as you rev it a little.
I would definitely check the ECU for codes, and go from there.

Change your fuel filter and run a bottle of Techron through your next tank of gas. See what happens after that.
