I aggree. The purpose of this item is to be loud when needed to "intimidate racers"? I dont really see a performance gain. Just a lot of noise.

i just had it installed, when it is open, it sounds like a motorcycle, but closed u cant tell. i think it helps a little up top since it is only going through half of the exhaust system, but kinda unnoticeable, toooop loud, wish i never spent my $$ cause i am not even boosted

I have a QTEC cutout on my se-r. I don't open it unless I'm at the track or if I just want to hear how the exhaust sounds with the cams at idle. At the track I did back to back runs and the runs with the cutout open I had higher trapspeeds than with it closed. Then again my car has CAI, header, B pipe + cutout, JWT S3 cams + ECU, UR pullies, so your results may vary.

I have the qtec electric cutout and it dumps into a full 3" sidepipe. On the dyno there was a 15 hp difference with the cutout fully opened. also, when i go to a cruise in I open the cutout just enough for a nice powerful rumble!! This always gets the attention of the muscle car mavens.

Before, I was thinking of installing one inline with my nitrous switch so each time I pressed the button to spray, the QTEC would also open for more power. hehe

Anyways, all of you guys with the QTEC, exactly where along the exhaust system are your's installed?

it may look rediculous, but it has meaning behind it, i kept getting pulled over with my straight muffler, since i put stock muffler back on, now i can switch it back and forth, dont need 2 spend $250++ on a complete CATBACK...
