I am the proud owner of 2 Maxima's a 2000 White GLE, and a 98 SE fully loaded 5 speed. When I drive the 98 it is SO NOISY compared to the 2000. This is what I know so far, I have to replace my tranny because of the diff bearings, but I think the engine is also making noises. When I am in 5th gear on the Highway, every time i push the gas pedal it makes a blunt whinning/whistling noise very quiet but still there, is that from tranny or the engine? Also every time I hit pot holes on the 98 I feel like my whole car is going to fall apart, that's prob because of the Sport's Suspension, but I mean I FEEL every bump on the ******* road. When being on GLE it's so much smoother and I almost dont feel anythhing. Lastly when I brake hard on the 98 my pedal vibrates, is that because I need to cut the rotors? My brakes are good, at least I think so. I was looking around ebay, and I found Brembo's for 90$ for the front, should I change them all together and replace my brake pads with HAWK HSP????? Please need feedback

The car is somewhat older and people also say 5th gens improved the interior quality.

I will say that my dad's '98GLE is a lot quieter than my '95SE manual. I think being older, you certainly will get more noise as parts/seals age. With the hoods up, is one noisier than another, listening from the engine bay? Certainly as belts age, you can start to hear more noise. When it comes to ride, your stock struts/shocks may need replacement and certainly 4th gen interiors do not age well at all--lot of dash rattle and squeeks are the norm. Engine NVH is reduced because of electronically controlled motor mounts on all GLE's.

As for your rotors, they are warped and you probably need them cut but for not much more, you can just get Brembo blanks. Check out the group deal for some zinc-plated brembo blanks. Nopi.com has cheap blanks too I believe. Beware of ebay--some claim brembo but really aren't.

Well, the brembo red box is there. It should also have "brembo" laser etched on the rotor as well. The price is definitely reasonable but I'd rather have zinc plated rotors if I were to spend the extra money.
