Ebrake light wont turn off

I was driving around in the city, and at every light which turned green, i'd hit the accelerator and my ebrake light would turn on from the torque...once i hit a steady speed, it turned back off. but later that day, it just remained on...and now it is permanently on after a week. what could i do to fix this?

Is your Batt. light coming on as well? My Brake light light lit up for a while and eventually the Batt. light did too. Its a sign of a dying alternator.

happened to me for a little and then it just went away? some say it means you might have low brake fluid but mine was fine. perhaps there's a sensor loose? i hope that was the case for me cuz i had just changed center console and played with gauges and a few other things. g'luck finding the cause.

I'm not sure if this helps, but my sister's Altima had the same problem, but was resovled when I topped off the break fluid. I guess start with that and then if the light does not go off, keep looking...

Yep, the brake fluid is probably low. Make sure that it's up to par, and if it is, then have your alternator checked at your local Checker / Auto Zone

My brake light would come on if the brake fluid was low usually. Then one time it came on and it wouldn't go off and the brake fluid was topped off. My brakes needed a bleeding bad and it wasn't creating much pressure under heavy braking. I changed my pads and bled the brakes as good as I could without proper tools and the light went away. You might need new pads or you may need to bleed the brakes. Just thought i'd throw that out there.

check the brake fluid in the resivour, make sure it is up to level. if that is ok then I would get the alternator checked, open diodes in the rectifer circuit of the alternator can cause this too.

Ok i will check the fluid level...even though my car has been serviced at all intervals in the warranty period at the dealer, i doubt they bothered to check brake fluid and such. i hope its not my alternator, my battery light hasnt turned on! my radar detector has the voltage indicator and i never noticed any abnormally low voltage (usually aorund 13V when the car is on and in gear driving around, etc).
