Winter storage
Winter storage
My maxima will be going in the garage mid-October for the winter until April. Saves insurance money and extreme wear and tear from salt on my car. For those of you who have to deal with harsh winters or letting your car sit for a long period of time, is there something I should do to it before and/or during storage?
My next ride is all lined up. 1991 Chevy Beretta. $500.

I store my Max in the winter months. Go to Wallymart
and pick up a small bottle of that gas stabilizer stuff.
I think its call "Stabil"
Dump it in your tank and then fill your tank to the top.
Remove your Battery...thats it...I guess you could raise it up
on blocks and remove your tires and wheels but I never did.
I stored my Max for 9 months last yr (Had no room in the Garage)
and I poped in the Battery and it started right up first try.
This would be the 5th winter I've stored. Oh yeah...get a nice
car cover too !!!

i own a house in europe....fly out every summer there and i store a car in the garage...99 Max (european model)...all i do is remove the battery and put a cover on the car....i have a family member start it up every 6 weeks or so for a few minutes....car has been ok for the past 2 years like that....no problems.
The gas stabilizer, a full tank of gas and you should do something about the tires...drive it around the block a few times over the winter or something...otherwise you may get flatspots.
I wish my car was getting stored for the winter.

Change the oil so it's nice and clean, fill the gas tank up, stabalizer is not needed for just a few months of storage, I've been storing my bike every winter since I've owned it (15 yrs) and never once used stabalizer. Also pump your tires up to the max on the sidewall so they don't flat spot. Put a nice coat of wax on it so the dust that accumulates on the paint doesn' sit up into the paint. Disconnect the battery and leave it be.....
