o2 sensor hole - threads stripped - how to fix?
Anyone got a good fix for stripped trheads on an o2 sensor bung? I was gonna replace all my o2 sensors and one of them was siezed to the threads in the bung and when I used force to remove the sensor it took the threads with it... This is on a budget Y-pipe.
I have three options...
1) I can cut a 3"x3" square around the o2 bung in my old factory y-pipe that's just lying around, cut a matching hole around the Budget Ypipe o2 bung and weld the factory bung into the budget ypipe...
2) Get a threaded adapter with an inside thread that matches my o2 sensor and an outside thread which is larger, then get a tap that matches the the larger thread and tap a matching new thread into the ruined bung.
3) Get a tap that matches the 02 sensor, weld a bead into the ruined bung to fill where the ruined thread was, and then tap a new thread into the bung.
Anyone here had to fix this before? how did you do it? Anyone got any godd/bad opions on these three options?
