New best: 14.8482 @ 93.55 mph (Auto)

It was the last Import/Sport Compact drags of the year yesterday. Placed 3rd due to a rediculous decision by the officials to let a little Honda hatchback race in our class. My runs went like this:

15.0317 @ 92.72 (2.30 60 ft)
15.0086 @ 93.51 (2.34 60 ft)
14.8482 @ 93.55 (2.28 60 ft)
14.9169 @ 93.30 (2.26 60 ft)
15.0417 @ 92.02 (2.29 60 ft)
14.8804 @ 93.05 (2.26 60 ft)

The Civic was running low 14's and was allowed to run in our class due to the interpretation that the 6-cylinder title for our class was only a limit of 6, not that you have to have a 6-cylinder. I believe they'll change it for next year though. Everyone in the class was ****ed about it. It was an older hatch and probably weighed half of what any of our cars did. I think he was running a built B-18 motor and running low 14's. Oh well though. The sad point in the evening was watching an NSX get eliminated by a Cougar when his car popped out of gear about 50 ft. off the line.

Your car sucks j/k

I think you convinced me that my next mod will be drag radials. After watching your car leave the line with no issues thru 1st, it convinced me that drag radials are the key. Are you running 225/50s? I'll see if I can find another lone Millenia wheel

Yup, 225/50. I'll let you run on them and see how it does next time I come up to KCIR. That way you'll be sure you need them. Thanks for coming down. Sorry the track wasn't very kind to you timewise. Congrats on the plaque though!

Good job B.

Dave why in the world would you get DRs when you can spend the same money and get slicks and cut 1.8s and 1.9s all day. Not to mention they will probably be about 6lbs lighter than DRs would. Only reason I can envision is if you want to drive on them to the track.

Where can I get slicks for $108 each? The BFG G-force drag radials are pretty aggressive and have always been known for pulling good 60 foots. Travis was able to pull a 2.26 60' with barely a squeak in his auto. Seeing that the auto can only leave the line at around 2400rpms stalled out, I'd imagine I could pull off fairly easy 2.0s and get rid of the "drama" I experience in 1st. The BFGs are 24" so the extra torque multiplication would be nice. I need to look everything over to see if I could hold onto 3rd thru the end or not. I know slicks would give me the ultimate gain, but I don't know if I want to risk the clutch/tranny/diff for the sake of .1-.15 in 60'. Driving to the track on the drag radials would also be a nice option. Most people get 3000-4000 miles out a set so they'd out last the time I'll have my Max. I picked up Travis' Millenia/BFG combo and it was real light. I can't imagine it weighed over 30lbs total. If I do go this route, hopefully Travis will let me buy his extra Millenia rim and then I can source another from a junkyard.

I did the calculations and it looks like 24" drag radials at 7000rpms in 3rd is ~103mph so it's pretty much ideal.

Dave, you can have it that extra wheel. It's been doing laps around my garage since I bought'em.

I'll try to weigh the combo tomorrow when I get to work. I weighed it when I first put them on but I can't remember what it was.
