New Idea to take care of CV JOINTS

since hte rubber boot on the cv join cracks and busts open. i was thinking that we could spray a rubber protectant on it.(i.e Son Of a Gun Protectant, Armor all, ect..) wouldn't that keep it from drying and cracking out? since it protects the vinval and leather in the interior it should be able to protect hte rubber on hte cv joint

would the cv joint cause slight knocking/grinding when going over bumps at low speeds?

I was wondering the same thing, but thought that maybe that stuff might not work for the boots.

I thought Armorall... well all the so called "protectants" in time eat the rubber. I remember my tries cracking b/c I put tire shine/protectant on them once a week. I bet there is a good product for the boots, someone has to find it. I'd know I'd use it. Someone get out there and find it!

u might want to slap some grease between the boots...but when the boots go they will go...just age that takes their toll on the boots.

how bout silicone lubbricant. i have heard that Armor all messes things up over time, but not Son of A Gun. so do u think that will work? i have been using it on my interior since 96 and its been good for me. reason is that i just replaced my axle 2 days ago and i want to make sure it last just as long as the OEM one. i got hte one from autozone because i can't afford the raxles.com and i got my passenger side replaced last OCT. i want that one to last too

Pure silicone spray is supposed to be the best thing for rubber in terms of keeping it from drying and cracking.

I'm not an expert, but this is what I have heard. This information was from a good source so I do it myself. I have replaced both axles last Nov and also DO NOT want to do it again because the boots split.

Helps prevent the cracking and drying of rubber. Displaces water and makes an excellent mold release lubricant. May be used where light duty or silicone lubricants are recommended

silicone it is
