what is a cat back

i'm searching on thread with topics related to muffler and i see many threads with cat back muffler. stock muffler is not a cat back?

a MUFFLER is just like a big resonator, an exhaust system includes the muffler and all of its piping through to the cat hence the name cat-back

And when you scratch it, it purs.....meow.

That's right, exhaust system from the catalytic converter back. No meow. But it can make your car pur.

The exhuast system in a maxima goes Headers - Y-pipe - Cat converter - B-pipe - Muffler. A catback exhuast is simply the piping from the cat-back. So it would be the B-pipe and the muffler.
