Does 5 speed gearing differ in 95 to 96???

Hello I am a new member. I am interested in buying a 95 to 96 only maxima gxe or se 5spd. My question is does the gearing differ between the 95 and 96????? I am in the Indianapolis area and the cars seem to be fairly hard to find. I have drove a 95 se and at 65m.p.h. I was turning about 2750rpm. In my car and driver issue April 95, tested June 94 a 95 maxima se 5spd. the zero to 60 is 6.7 seconds. But in a 96 review at new car test drive or kbb.com, the zero to sixty is 6.7 but they said it was at 3300rpm. So it may effect which year I want if this is true. And something must be wrong somewhere or not. Any input would be great.

P.S. former owner of 93 se

I have a '95 stock auto Max and a '96 stock 5sp Max. I have only really checked the rpm's at around 80 on the highway on these cars. The '95 auto runs at around 2800 rpm's at 80 mph. The '96 5sp runs about 3200 rpm's at 80 mph. Feel free to do the math to bring it down to the 65 mph range for your application. Good luck.

I checked the rpm's for you today at 65 mph. It seems to run at 2650 rpms in my '96 5sp Max. As far as maxing out, I have only ran this car up to about 100 mph and that was to show an E420 Mercedes what it was all about getting on the interstate. I did this as a public service to the guy driving the Mercedes, I taught him how to spell M.A.X.I.M.A because the rear of my car is all he could see.

On a side note, as best I can recall, the final drive ratio on a '95 and '96 5sp Max is 3.82:1 and the final drive ratio on an auto is 3.73:1. I am not positive so hopefully someone else can confirm this for you. Good luck in your search for a Max, my 5sp has 130,000 miles on it and my auto has 97,000. Both of these are still great performers and lookers completely stock. I think you will enjoy a Max when you get ready to buy one. Good luck.
