Do I really need hoodpins?

The body shop said that I can get hood pins if I want to, but drilling through the hood might mess up the integrity. And if the latch is strong enough to keep it in place there won't be a problem? Will this be a problem? Cuz' I already have the pins. Where do you drill the holes? BTW this is for a C.F. Hood.

if the latch is strong enough, the hood might flutter during a high rate of speed so if you want it strapped down, get hood pins. you could actually see it waving in the wind as you drive. its kinda scary really. that depends on the rigidity of the supports under the cf hood, but to be safe, get em. as to where to put em, on the front end chassis support. the piece in front of the radiator. i think, but not 100% right.

Do a search alot of people with the cf hood had it fly up on them...crack their windsheild etc....ALL cf hoods should run hood pins that way to feel toatally safe IMHO....but either way its up to you.

I actually have hood pins without a cf hood, and I love them. my cars not all riced out and they still look pretty good, plus its nice to just pull them out to open the hood. plus its sweet that the alarm goes off if you open the hood and the alarm goes off. (I just have the ghetto pins with the wires runnin to them)

ive heard that it depends on the quality of the CF hood. If its near OEM spec and you dont autoX then it should be fine without. Having them may be some added insurance so they are worth considering

when i installed my cf hood for like the first week i didnt use hood pins.it was really scary because at 70 the hood starts to shake violently and its scary when u hit big bumps.so i decided to install them.IMO i think you should do it plus it gives you a sporty look.

better safe than sorry. I also experienced violent hood flexing or shaking at around 65+. I've heard horror stories of hoods cracking windshields even at 35miles per hour.

I had mine professionally installed but I heard If your drilling holes yourself, wear one of those masks cuz, you might get carbonfiber in your lungs.
oh btw, you drill your holes on the upper tie bar in one of the two or three empty holes...GL!

I put pins in my hood just for the fact that it really moved alot at highway speeds.

I like yours leprosybear, the black looks better IMO than the silver on a black car with a CF hood
