I have a 3rd gen now and I really want a fourth gen soooo bad. I was thinking that I can scrape up like 2500 bucks would it be realistic to think that I will be able to find a fourth gen at a used car lot for my car as a trade and 2500. I have a 92SE with 180000 miles.

I really doubt it, you might be able to get a 95 with trade in for like 3500-4000...but a 92 with 180k isn't going to get you much for trade in value, unless you're looking for a 4th gen with similar mileage, in which case you might be able to pull it off for the 3rd and cash

The milage isnt really all that important to me. Ive had four 3rd gens so I know the engines are built to last. So it is possible. Im was driving around to used car lots today and saw a couple the owners both offered me 1500 for my car but I feel like thats really low since one lot had a 3rd gen on his lot with close to the same miles as mine and he was selling it for 4500. If this guy will give me 2000 then maybe I'll do it since he's only asking 4000 for the 4th gen with 160000 miles on it.

He's saying that with the mileage so high on your 3rd gen, your trade in will be very low. You won't get $2k for it...

Honestly it depends. with that barter, i'd expect you can get a 95 that will require more $ for work (maintenance, repairs, or whatnot).

The 4th gens are good cars but honestly, ive never had so many computer problems than with any other car in my carpark today. I enjoy my max but i find other cars just as good, if not better.

BS -----> Don't listen to them ILOVEMYSE. I had a 1990 Honda Accord DX 5-spd in excellent condition with 160,000 miles and sold it for exactly $2,000 a few months ago. Yes, that's how much I got for a worst trim (DX) piece of **** 4-cyl accord. So, a 92 V-6 Maxima SE (much better trim) I would say you can EASILY sell for $3,000 - provided that it is in good overall condition, even though it has 180,000 miles.

Also, to be realistic, you CAN definitely find a 95/96 Maxima SE with LOW mileage for around $6,000 - 6,500 - I am sure! So intead of giving 2,500 like you planned, you might have to give like $500 more (so total of $3000) more to get a nice 95/96 Maxima SE with low mileage. Best bet would be to of course find in from a private seller cause dealers always charge more.

Now, if you want a 95/96 with around or over 100,000 miles, you can find one for $4,500 to $5,000 I am 100% sure! ...and yes, one in excellent condition.

As a proof...here's a couple that took me a whole 30 seconds to find (notice that the 95 SE is automatic and pretty much fully loaded, which means 5-spd would be even less) - a 95 SE automatic with LOW MILEAGE for $6,800, although I bet you can get it down to 6,200-6,500 if you know how to bargain: http://www.autofocuschicago.com/sear...N&cmdFind=Find

Best bet is to sell the car as a private sale. At this point we don t know how good your car looks ,so is hard to say what the trade value is. I would say clean the car ,wax it and and try to see what offer you get. If the car runs great and is well taken care of, you should have no problems to sell it . On the other hand, if the car is rough , or there are problems with it just trade it and get rid of it.

hey i just bought a 1997 Maxima GXE for $7900, with 60,000 miles on it , apparently tha is a good price. But as i was saying, if i got a deal like that on a 97 you should easily be able to find a 95 with bunch of miles on it for your price.
