some type of rubbing noise from my wheel(s)...
well, I finally got my car back from the shop after an accident a few weeks ago...
I got in my car, so damn happy to finally have it back after all this time... and my stomach dropped when I heard this disgusting noise from the front wheels (new rims/tires that they put on in addition to repairing my car.. 17") on my way home.
I turned right back around and went back to the shop, and let the guy drive the car with me to hear the noise... turns out my axles, and rotors needed to be replaced.
since my brakes were pretty shot, I went ahead and had those replaced while I was at it.
so I get my car back (again) the next day, and the disgusting noise went away, but now I hear a new noise. at low speeds (under 35'ish, I guess), I can hear a sort of rubbing noise from either the front driver-side wheel, or both front wheels... hard to tell from inside the car really. the noise speeds up as my wheels spin faster, and once I get up there in speed (40 mph+), it either stops or just isn't audible anymore.
I don't actually feel it when I drive, but I can hear it.
what gives? is this just something that needs to be broken in and will eventually stop? or should I bring the car back to the mechanic tomorrow?
thanks.
edit: I realized after I posted that "a sort of rubbing noise" is pretty vague of a description. to clarify, it doesn't sound like tire rubbing. the new tires were just rebalanced and aligned. it's more of a metal sound.

I'm also noticing a slight rubbing noise coming from the passenger front wheel when the car is coasting at low speeds. The noise started after I installed new brake shims this weekend. Last weekend I put in new pads and rotors. I was getting a metalic squeal when applying the brake pedal. The new shims eliminated the squeal, but I now have this rubbing noise. It sounds like the rotor is rubbing against the pads. I'm going to check my lug nuts tonight to make sure they're fastened properly.
