very bad weekend...lost 2 maxes

I lost 2 maximas this weekend.
Had a 1996 GXE. Swerved to miss a deer on friday, hit an island, then a highway sign, then another island. Still waiting on the damage report...but presumably totalled.
Then, saturday I sold my 1990 Pearl max.
So now i have no maxes. But, looking for a 4th gen. Preferably 96-96 GLE or SE around 7,000. Lemme know if anyone is selling.

I know you don't want to hear this, but it would have been a little safer for you to hit the deer
Here in oregon you are supposed to, they even teach it in drivers ed "And if it's a cow, you have to accelerate,
(not brake) so that it doesn't stop on top of the car, crushing you inside"

Real bummer about the max tho, hope your insurance is good and you can make off with a better one!

Isn't there the danger of the deer or cow sliding across the hood and through the windshield crushing you?

That's how they teach it here, where we have deer everywhere.. deer = hit, cow = speed up... I'm not one to speculate, because I haven't hit any, however my friend nailed a deer going 50 and did minor front end damage to his 91 max SE.

You can even get a ticket here if you swerve to miss a deer and hit another car. They teach in drivers ed that high speed + swerve = more likely damage than front end collision, which is most often the safest kind (as opposed to sides or rear)

Man If im gonna crash into a cow, im gonna go all out, Im gonna crash into that thing as fast and hard as I can, Ill even pull up the e-brake so I can hit that B1tch sideways and kill it even more than it would be if it was in just a head on.

Naw Im jus playing I wouldnt do that to a poor cow, or my Maxima, But I did almost crash into a Deer comming home from one of the meets around Shaumburg

wtf, accelerate when u see a cow? i assume they say that because u want that poor thing to bounce up after u hit it. thats realy sad to hit a cow that hard man. if it doesnt bounce up, then the next thing ud be expecting is ur a$$ getting crushed by a cow coming thru windshield.

sux to hear about the max, glad ur ok. insurance is paying?

WTF? That is the most insane thing I've ever heard of. You need to get that law changed now, especially the part that penalizes you for swerving.

No thats not insane , whats insane is that the # 1 cause of highway deaths is people swerving to avoid animals . They make these laws because this is the most common accident, in NY they tell you to hit the animal.

True enough. I lost a car once too when I hit black ice. It was scary when it happened because of the feeling of complete lack of control. Losing the car left a hole in my heart for a couple months too. Good thing for having family & friends around because they helped me through being in the dumps.

yea when i lost my car in an accident, the worse part was just knowing that you had no control. they put it up on a car carrier and i felt like i was gonna puke. first thing you think when you lose control is that your going to die... its horrible, im sure plenty of org member know too. its called a car accident for a reason
