I'm having a big problem starting my car. I have a feeling that it is the factory alarm system. I noticed i can't lock my car through the remote. Every time i try to start the car the security light is consistently on. ohter than that the battery is brand new, starter, alternator, fuel pump is fine. any help would be appreciated thanx!!!!!

 

Do you have the security key? I know there were problems with the early versions and I believe they started with the later 99s. Head to the dealer to have this checked out. You'll probably need a new key. Worth a search of the forums too.

 

i've seen this problem before, the engine just keeps turning over and wont start. The reason is the key, for whatever reason the chip wont sync with the ecu and the car wont start. Usually the key is bad and needs to be reprogrammed

its funny to save that key and give it to someone who wants to borrow the car though, since it wont run.

Even better if you are out of town and they use that key.

 

all i have is the remote and the key. would the remote be the security key you guys are refering to?
