Taping Oil Pan.. do i have to remove it.

Hey i wanna hook this oil temp sensor to my oil pan. its like the size of the supercharger tap-in. I just dont want to Re-move the entire oil pan for this ordeal.

how longs it take to take it off? difficult?

Or should i just do this and leave it on-> http://www.superchargersonline.com/content.asp?ID=30

I wish i could help you out bro but ive never done it. I do know one thing from experience. The job is always easier when u take the longer road it seems. I would imagine the job would be much easier in the long run by actualy dropping the pan. Plus you can clean it all out when its apart.

bob,

why exactly are you putting in that temp sensor...just to do it? I thought you put in a tranny cooler, or do you just want to monitor that?

You'll need to tap low enough so that the sensor is immersed in oil. You might as well just remove the lower oil pan and tap there.

I have an Autometer oil temp gauge and I put the sensor in the drain plug. I drilled through the center of the plug with a 3/8" drill, which was just a hair smaller than the sensor diameter. I heated up the plug with a torch and tapped the sensor in with a small hammer. There is enough interference to make a tight, leak-proof fit.
