I can name you companies that will build them for you...but you already know the names. NRH, Level 10 (dunno about L10, but for the $ I'm sure they would), Custom Transmission here in GA...
It's not a name like Stillen or anything that will jump out at you, but any shop that can build performance trannys can build a Maxima tranny. Come on guys/gals, it's not that difficult...
The problem that I see is that most of you folks don't want anything but bolt-ons, and bolt-ons are a great thing...but not when the parts you're putting on can damage or destroy vital stock components b/c they were never meant to take that abuse in the first place. It's called ingenuity, and companies like Stillen have very little of that. They have "band aid" fixes/mods. That's it...
If you're going to spend the money, spend it once the right way instead of $350 here for this tranny rebuild, $450 there for the next one...and so on and so forth.

I think the conclusion here is obvious and that we've finally discovered the deal with the ACT clutches and transmission failures. It seems pretty clear that it is (as people are saying) the increased shock loading that you are able to introduce when you run the ACT. The increased shock loads lead to increased wear which leads to early failures. I don't think there's really any question about it...because like it or not there HAS been an increase in tranny failures with people running the ACT, even though some people are fine.
So the answer is that you just can't be slamming into gears if you run the ACT, because if you do you're risking your transmission blowing up on you. To me this tends to suggest that the ACT isn't really worth it unless you're boosted or somehow or other getting tons more HP than stock and actually need it, because you're going to have to baby the transmission to keep it from exploding...if you're running tons more HP then it's probably worth it.
What's all this talk of $400 transmissions? How much is the labor on something like that anyway? LSD...hmmm.

If you can find an LSD tranny for $500, then you're very lucky. Most junkyards will tell you what you want to hear to make the sale. But when you ask them questions they get very vague. The junkyards that do actually have LSD trannies and can prove it are selling for about $1000 or more.

Years Engines Core Deposit
1988-1993 3.0L $350.00
1994-1999 3.0L $350.00
Limited Slip and Non Locking Both Available
good find Stephen. This looks like a shop that rebuilds trannies, and that statement means that LSD is available upon request. That's a good price for a rebuilt (same as 0 miles) tranny.
woops.. i should add that the core exchange only refunds that amount of money, the limited slip looks to be a separate option..

kenji...we knew this. thats how it is buying ANY thing off ebay, you can get ripped any time you buy a part without ever seeing it. a lot of people prefer junkyards, or reliable buisnesses instead of online auctions for just this reason. another smart idea is find an ebay auction from a dealer by your house...go look at the product before you spend that much money. i dont even understand how someone could buy an entire car off of ebay without ever driving or seeing it

If people want to blind bid on ebay, that okay with me it's their money they are playing with. Personally if I ever bought a car (which I will never do) off of ebay I would defiently drive down to the seller's house wherever he'she may live and check it out for sure. After all I am dropping major coin here

I bought my I30 on ebay but I took a train to go get it and had it inspected at the infiniti dealer before purchase....of course the engine was bad but since I got it for 4000 I figured another 1000 for engine and installation wouldnt hurt! And now I have 44k miles on the engine rather than 110k mles! So if you do buy on ebay, obviously use common sense and go see it and have it inspected first!
