woah man, not tryin to flame but try and research or something before you make assumptions. an s2000 is an inline - four cylinder aluminum block 16v DOHC VTEC RWD, which produces 240 HP @ 7800 RPM.

Thinking that you can simply 'unlock' something in an 8 year old motor design, dream on.. I hate to mention that comparing hondas to nissans, let alone a new inline4 to an 8 year old v6, is like comparing 'apples to oranges'.

I just called Car Tek tuning and I'm going to make an appoitment for the Dynoing so I can be friend's with everyone, OK! They charge $75.00 for the Dyno and 175.00 an Hour for tunning. That's beter than I expected.
However I'm getting the work done at another
shop(Headers-Catback) then I'll go back and Dyno again. Cool? Also I would like the guy here on the org in Weston to meet me there as a witness.

Big HP/liter isn't Nissan's philosphy and never will be. Only way you can get an engine to breathe that well at high RPM while maintaining decent drivability is variable valve timing and lift.

yes that would be the entire point of the new cams, to slightly bend nissans philosophy. also thats why they made race and mild cams, driveablity on one hand, power on the other. no clear dynos or info yet though?

$175 an hour to tune is ungodly high. The highest I have ever seen previous to this post was $130 an hour.

I've heard the cam argument go both ways, so I am confused about this as well...

2k an 2k1 turn out to have a cam profile of .232-.238 which wont be any better than what us 4th gens have..the ony 5th gen model is the 3.5 that has a nice cam profile that would give us a little gain. But getting it to work is going ot be hard.

That dosent make sence but oh well, if they came out with more agressive motors...when they sold them you would figure there hp ratings would be higher...

But i have a question and this goes out to EVERYONE. If the 2000-2001 makes 30 more hp then the 4th gens off intake manifold and exhuast... dosent that seem alot? Everyone with a MEVI says that the ECU is need for the great loss of low end...well since the 2000-2001 has a upgraded manifold how come they dident lose low end? do they come with an advanced timming ECU ?

5th gens have a dual intake runner system which is completely different from a MEVI on a 4th gen. With dual runners there is no loss in power.

5th gens don't use the same throttle system. And yes, the hood would not close either.

For one it's not pointless, especially if your running nitrous because you don't need to worry about a little loss in torque. Also, you could get the ECU upgrade if you wanted. It is expensive but JWT will do a nitrous piggyback system that will let you run their NA program then switch to the nitrous program via toggle switch.

Yea, arnt thoes ecu's for tuned setups? And ive heard that you cant just switched from a retart to advanced timing just instantly cuz the car needs time to learn the change....so i heard

I don't know all of the particulars on JWT's nitrous piggyback system, but the point was that you can have both an N/A and nitrous program and switch back and forth. So your not SOL because you run nitrous, you just have to be willing to spend some money.

What I meant was the ECU is only tuned for a certain shot. There is a discussion about this in the nitrous forum. You give up upgradability for the ability to switch between maps. Upgrade that shot and the ECU becomes untuned for the application. If it was a wet system it wouldn't matter anyway.

The cams came in today, Hopefully I will have time to install them this weekend. The headers are ordered but I have no idea when they will be in. Just gotta wait until I get a new fuel controller and I'll dyno again. Will anyone be installing thier own cams/ headers? If so I'll take time to do a write up w/ pics, since JWT didn't provide any instructions.

I can't change the rev limiter on my 99 so I'm hoping they won't be needed. But if the valves decide to float, I'll order a set.

Are you going to be doing before and after dynos on both the cams and headers? Can't wait to see the results

Please do a write-up with pics, please. :>
how much extra would the valve springs have been?

320 shipped from SWA.

I probably won't dyno before hand I'll just use my previous dyno as a reference. The only thing that has been added since that dyno was the dynomax muffler as opposed to the stock muffler.

That should be good enough, as long as you use the same dyno. Good luck on the install!

Good luck with the install.

Are you going to pull out the motor? if not it's going to be hard to remove the the timing cover not much space. oh be careful when tightening the cam bearings or also know as caps, the cams are know to break. due to it been a hollow shaft. well keep us updated.

I probably will have to raise the motor a little, but hopefully won't have to pull it out. I'm going to toss all of the power steering and ac components. That should give me a little more room.

The headers came in today! I'm hyped about these. Hopefully I'll be able to install everything this weekend.
