i doubt it. since the 4th generation didnt come with HID's, then the thieves wont go after them on a 4th gen. unless they know its installed on the car. there is still a possiblility!

I agree. Although there is a possibility of mine getting stolen i don't really thiink about it or am afraid. As Doggy stated, 4th gens dont come with HIDs therefore making them less of a target. The real HID thieves look for the 2K+ max, acura tls, etc. The 5th gens should be more worried =).

Yup, I agree. Who would know that you have HIDs unless they see it on?

And I'm not sure how easy it is to remove the 4th gen headlamp. Our fascia design is quite different from 5th gens, I should check it out.

even if they see it, it doesnt mean that they are going right after it. HID's are on most new cars. a 4th gen max wouldnt be the only way to go

I guess now that you mention it, I am a bit worried about my HIDs, I live in a pretty small town and I have the only modded max. Its not that hard to figure out that I have them and everyone knows my car. I should be ok though, I'm planning on having a clifford alarm installed within the next two weeks or so.

You will be fine...only thing you have to worry about is getting honked at, flicked off or high beamed by on coming traffic sometimes.

The real concern for the thieves is the time. . . they want to make it as quietly and quickly as possible. . . knowing that the HID's they're about to steal were put in aftermarket, they would have to rip the headlight out and most importantly look for the ballasts, mine are so hidden that you would have to steal them during the day and still have trouble getting them out. . . to the the HID's from a 5th gen or an Acura a good thief can probably do it in less than 2 minutes. . .why bother with stealing them from a 4th gen when they can find a 5th gen. . .

Well as for myself living in NY I secure my HID's with a hoodlock/cut off switch. What this does is lock your hood and have a cut off switch on your ignition at a push of a button. All it takes is a key to unlock the button. $100 installed. But as I said this is because I live in NY.
