Replaced knock sensor, still throwing code

Hello,
I replaced my knock sensor a little while ago and took a ride around the block, shut my car off and checked for codes and I am still throwing the knock sensor code...

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Mike

could be a bad sub-harnass.

Did you actually measure the resistance across your old knock sensor? What happens if you plug a 470k resistor across the sub-harnass?

I havent tried this.. How many wires should be coming out of the harness.. There is only one coming out of mine, is this normal?

Thanks for you help.

it might not reset for a day or 2. I just put in a resistor and it gave me code, next day the code was gone...

Once you clear the error, it will take more then a simple drive around the block to make it come back. Especially codes like the KS, O2's, EGR, EVAP ect. An error must happen twice for the ECU to record it. Total failures of major control devices (MAF, Infectors, Timing & Coils) will turn the CEL on immediately.

Thansk for the info guys.. Also is it correct that I only have one wire connecting to the KS.. Looks like a very delicate wire too.

Thanks,
Mike

I think it's ok as only 1 wire goes to the KS the other is a ground but I'm not sure where it is...

knock sensor code

try resetting your ecu...search on the forums for the directions on how to do that....if that doesn't work, I heard disconnecting the battery (for like an hour or so), just resetting the ecu is instant...then go for a drive....

resetting the ecu is done by turning the self-diagnostic screw on the ecu itself one direction and then the other direction that repeat the process....instructions for doing this are some where on these boards....

yes it will if the battery is disconnected long enough like over night, the ecu can not store codes for more then a couple of hours once the battery is disconnected

maybe your engine is knocking occassionally and throwing 0304. I had that code come back multiple times after ECU clearing and I suspected a bad KS. After TB cleaning, and 1 can of BG44K later I got rid of the code w/o replacing the KS (after ECU clearning it has not come back yet for a little over a month so far). The 44k helps get rid of carbon in your combustion chamber, which can lead to knock. TB cleaner and 44k is good for your engine anyways, even if it's not the source of your 0304.

no it won't, search for it in the 4th gen section. you will see that people who left htere battery dissconnected over night did not clear the code/reset the ecu

i've never tried the disconnecting battery method..just heard it works sometimes...what method i know fer sher works is to reset the ecu by using a set procedure by turning the self diagnostic screw one way for a few seconds and then the other, then repeat the process...can't put the process into words very well, but it works for me when i do it...

I am happy to report that my car is no longer throwing any codes Well it gave me a 0505 which means that no errors were detected. I guess it took a few days for the ECU to reset. Actually I didnt check it after I reset the ECU last time so maybe that worked. Thanks for your help everyone!
