Rear Brakes

I went to change my rear brakes and i got to the point in which i had to spin the nut to compress the caliper and then put it back on it was turning but not moving back into the caliper so it would not fit and i could not fit the pad on. HELP?? has this ever happened to anyone if so how did u fix it?

did you take the whole caliper off? meaning that did you take out those two screws behind the rotor holding the inside brake pad, cause when i changed my rear brakes i couldnt get the old ones off without doing this. And of course the only way they were going to go back on is this way.
And also make sure you turn it in all the way.

As you're turning clockwise put some force on it to push it in...
