18x8 rims and ABS question

18x8 rims and ABS question

i heard somewhere that if u enlarge ur rim size the ABS my be thrown off. this is because, from wht i heard, the ABS is set up for the stock tires and rims sizes. anyone have any input on this???

I don't know if thats true or not, but I will say, I have 18's and my ABS still works fine, only had to slam the breaks once since i got the rims though. Stupid Maine drivers.

i havent really had a problem either... it was just brought up and i was wondering.. here in jersey its a common thing esp. where i live everyone sucks at driving.. the main question to ask other drivers is"so u got signals? right?"

As long as all the wheels are the same size you should not have problems with the ABS ..... the ABS system and the sensors don't know the size of the wheel they just try to match the speed of the 4 wheels....so if you had 1 or 2 larger wheels on the car the system would have problems determining wheels speeds....later

Why would it be thrown off? When you do +1 and +2 the overall diameter of the tire does not change. 215/55-16 = 235/45-17 = 235/40-18. The speedo is accurate, are you saying abs cares about the width of the rim?
