Wow only 115. Oh you gotta GXE, you need to get rid of the governor. My SE goes well beyond 140

The easiest way to do this is to get an ECU from the SE in your model year.

Uh...my '96 Maxima is a GXE, and I have hit 130 before. I stopped there.

Are you sure all you get is 115?

Some GXEs have the limiter at 115 some dont (mine does). We havent been able to figure out any pattern. The only way to be sure is to go out and try it in your car.

some manufactures govern their cars to what the factory tires can handle. Perhaps when some of these cars are born they get crappy tires therefor you get a governor but get the SE with high speed rated tires you don,t get the governor.

That could be it. When I bought mine (previously owned ) it looked as if it had factory tires, but I'm not sure. They were "H" rated Goodyear tires. They've since been replaced, with a new set of Goodyear "H" rated tires.
