exhaust question

Ladies and gentlemen,
Lend me your ears...
I would like to know what I can do to make my muffler a little bit louder. Currently, it is not loud at all, but more of a gurgle sound when in low rpms. At WOT, you can't even hear it. When I let off the gas, that's when it gurgles a little bit.

Here's the deal, I already have a Magnaflow SS muffler (14832) on stock piping. By the way, does anyone know the stock piping diameter? I thought it was 2 1/4 but when I measured, I got 2 inches. Maybe I'm just retarded!
Do you think that getting a larger diameter piping at a local muffler shop would make it a bit louder? Maybe 3 inches with a resonator? Isn't that what the major catbacks are anyways?

I was thinking about taking off the stock resonator, but that would just probably make it raspy. While we're on the subject of B-pipe, is there any difference between a custom muffler shop b-pipe and let's say, Budget's?

I plan on getting a budget y-pipe soon, and what I found out by searching around the threads, is that it might make my muffler a lil bit louder while adding good gains.

I don't want to spend too much money on making it louder so any sound (no pun intended) suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks everyone!

THD

Well your shop will probably not do mandrel bend unless u request it..they will do crush bends. The budget however is a mandrel bend product which is good 2.5" will be good for you 3" is best for boosted and unless you are dont waste your dough

Requesting won't help since only a few shops actually have mandrel bending machines. Get a y-pipe, it'll be loud, you'll get tired of it and put in additional resonators to quiet it down...

it will be loud, but is it loud in the y-pipe section under the car or is it loud actually coming out of the muffler?

Out of the muffler. Actually with a stock muffler it will still be fairly quiet...

Thanks everyone! I just ordered a budget y-pipe yesterday.

Hopefully, it will sound good with my home depot intake (which already sounds good) and my muffler.
