please let me know how high your rpm shoots up on cold morning starts and also list what mods you have, auto/5sp.

mine will sometimes shoot to 2,000 rpm when it fires up and settles to 1,500 and gradually drops until it warms up. Is it because of my aluminum flywheel that it allows it to rev that easly? when I was an auto it would go to 1,500 and stay there and gradually lower as it warms up.

starts at maybe 1300rpm, after 300 seconds it's at 1000rpm and after maybe 2-3 minutes it's at 700rpm...

Mine goes up to about 1500 rpms, then stays at 1300 for a bit...gradually falling after that. I am a stock 98 5-speed.

You meant after 30 seconds maybe? not 300 seconds!

Same with me: from 1300 to 1000 to 700 in about same times.

Mine is weird...cold starts it jumps up to about 2500 rpms then down to about 200 and sometimes dies and usually takes about 3 times to start it without a dramatic drop...is something wrong that i can fix?

I get the same start after I adjusted the cold idle circuit. My car used to start cold at about 2000 RPM's and slowly drop which I think is to fast for a cold, oil starved motor. You can adjust the cold start RPM's by turning the set screw on the cold idle linkage down under the throttle body. There are scroll marks on the linkage that should line up when the car is cold. I found mine to be off by a mm or so. Setting them back in line with each other made my cold start seem much more gentle on my cold engine. The Haynes manual explains how to adjust the cold idle linkage and shows where you can find the scroll marks.

Man my 99Auto uses a jet pack to get to 3k and then goes down to 1.5k, Then slowly and gradually makes its way down to my idle rpms at an astonishing 900 rpms, Is there something wrong here?
