Well, you did say you did it on an '05 Maxima, and your in the 4th gen section..so that's likely the difference right there.

Make YouTube your friend and search in their search engine

"Replace maxima drive axle" or a similar phrase. About 5 good ones are there. Watch videos, theres one (cannt access Utube from work), that is the best, and the least intrusive for removal / installing of parts.....
