I have done a bit of searching but could not find much about the pros and cons of installing a block heater. I am looking at buying a "lower radiator hose" type of block heater. Does this type cause any problems? Are other types better? How can I determine the size of the lower radiator hose(I need this to purchase the correct block heater)?

I drive a '95 GXE. Live in Nebraska.
