Does this mean my knock sensor is BAD!!!

I've read some of the posts about disconnecting the knock sensor harness and driving the car around and seeing if there is a difference. My car has been feeling kind of sluggish for awhile so I unplugged the harness. I couldnt really tell a difference in driving which is probably bad right? So I timed some acceleration tests.

I timed how long it took to go from 1500-6000 rpms in 2nd gear. = 7 secs

Disconnected the harness and did same thing. = 7 secs.

Does this mean my knock sensor is bad?
I have a 1997 SE 5spd with 102,000(original knock sensor)

Also if I were to buy one off of Ebay do they come with the harness, and if not do I even need a new harness?

yeah get a new KS. There is usually a guy that sells them for $90 + $1s&h on ebay. I checked and he doesn't have any for now. Go to radioshack and buy a 3 pack of 1M ohm resistors. Take 2 of them and put them one on top of eachother and twist the leads together. Now 2 of them look like 1 resistor. Plug that into the harness thet the KS cable used to plug into. It's a black connector on the left of the throttle body, smaller of the 2 black connectors. The KS cable goes under the intake manifold. Plug the resistors into the connectore that IS NOT THE ONE GOING UNDER THE MANIFOLD. If you feel any difference than get a new KS, if not check for other problems...

check the knock sensor with a digital multimeter to know for sure if it's bad. Haynes manual tells how - or search for "knock sensor"

This has been well covered here on the .org already.

You caught me in a good mood - I did your search for you:

You're welcome.

How funny I did the same also today. But I unplugged the socket that was not on the knock sensor. I too felt no difference. But I just changed my O2 sensor. So I'm am going to wait 2-3 gas tank fills before I make a purchase for a knock sensor to see if it is bad. That code gave me a 3-4 when the O2 sensor was triggered and now the 3-4 code is gone. But if I'm not mistaken everyone here says that the kS will not show up if nothing else triggers it???? Just have to wait and see the GAS MILEAGE.

Umm. . .

-or you could test it and know for sure before buying parts you may not actually need. See the link I posted above.
